Another month alive, a chance for plants to thrive. By this time, the seedlings started 4-6 weeks ago should be vibrant and healthy. They will be ready to be transplanted to their new forever homes. If clones were taken from mother plants, they can be transplanted any time.
The temperature should be adjusted to 75 F – 82 F with RH around 50% - 55%, adjusted down to the 40s in the final weeks. Fans for circulation should be on low while the new plants adjust. The light cycle in a flower room should always be 12 hours on, 12 hours off. It’s always possible to give a cannabis plant less light, potentially losing yield, but never additional light during the flower cycle.
If the cultivator does not have any clones or mothers, it is possible to take cuttings from the plant the first 2 weeks of flower. Most strains will be finished around Day 49 – 56 of flower. This would be days since the light cycle was changed from 18 – 6 to 12 – 12. This room can be used as perpetual, if a clone and veg area has been established separately.
The plant will start producing multiple calyxes stacked (bud sites) around Day 14 – 21. Around week 4 – 7 the plant will start drinking more to keep up with the bud production. It is important to have your environment dialed in, good airflow, and humidity low during this time to prevent molds and mildews.
If the genetics have never been run before, it is important to watch out for hermaphrodite plants. These would look like highlighter yellow bananas growing out of the bud. Stability of genetics is paramount for back-to-back runs, as it can seed the entire crop and limit bud growth.
Next time, well cover harvesting, curing, and storing the cannabis.
